View On Black

Yet, another month of 2010 over. I can't beleive how time flies especially when its February. In a way I am glad that February is the shortest month of the year especially during winter time. So looking forward to spring now.

Follow me on My Blog

A hand held photo taken from a bridge.

I am an architect by training, although I don't practice architecture anymore ( kinda on a break trying to figure out my life) but I miss everything about architecture. I wish all my 365 photos were architecture related, but then firstly the winters take a toll and on top of it I currently live in a city where architectural inspirations are hard to come by (I wish I was living in NYC and not one hour away from it)

This week most of my photos have been outdoors since I made an extra effort to take as much outdoors as possible (too many photos indoorsy,). And now with being more and more outdoors there is a very strong urge to click as much architecture as possible.

Today H and I actually walked Stamford, downtown, beleive me when I say this, although having lived in Stamford, CT for almost 2 years now, this may be the second time we have walked in Stamford let alone downtown, first time being when we went to see the UBS parade. Otherwise walking in Stamford is at Cove or around my neighborhood. I am sure now Ill walk more of it to take photos and know more of Stamford with architectural photography. I have lots of shots from today's photo walk and really want to blog about my thoughts about Stamford architecture over course of time, Till then goodnight... its 11.35 and I am off to sleep.

I see this view most of the time along my running path. Since it was raining and cloudy yesterday, the view made an impact on me for me to take this shot. This is how it looks through my lens

A different angle to Interstate 95 Landmark

This is latest building sitting at a very prominent site right across from I-95 at exit 7 in Stamford, CT. I have seen most of the construction progress for this project. Its been really long that I wanted to take pictures of this building since I see it almost every day from the time I have moved to Stamford.

Architecture and urban planning in Stamford undoubtedly is most unfriendliest to pedestrian. Hence when it comes to taking photos of building trying to find a pedestrian friendly street is almost a challenge as to taking the shot itself. H and I finally discovered a back route to this building yesterday. The photo of the building through this vantage point was only possible because its winter and bare trees gave more insight to the building elevations. The street landscape around the building is still under construction. The back side of the building where these picture were taken is facing the stream of Rippowan River ending into Long Island Sound.

A Blizzard-a mess from a mess

A mess from yesterday's snow storm. Combination of over obsession with processing, presets, actions and textures. I truly hope this obsession ends Friday.

Oh I so wish I could add this to my 365 project as day41 image. But I already posted day41 image this morning...Oh well!

I did know since yesterday that its going to snow today and I am gonna be out clicking snow pictures. But it snowed the whole day and I just wasn't too keen on going out, but finally at 4.30 I decided to go out to a local park (we go regularly especially during summer) to take pictures. I dug up some old photos I had taken at the park past summer. I am pleasantly surprised at the difference in photography from end of September 2009 to mid of February 2010. Below in the comments section is the image taken at the same spot end of summer 2009.

Dramatic Sky

I am amazed at how much I am noticing sky these days. Sunrise and a sunset in a row. Today was a very very dull day- no sunlight and cold, couldn't be outside other than finishing chores, cant beleive how dramatic the sky got during sunset hour and I got to capture it.

I had already taken some shots today with the new magnifying filters since it was such a terribly day outside and had to run around the whole day to finish so much weekend work. But then here comes sunset time and you can see the effect. Below is the shot I was gonna post initially.
